On a wet and rainy day in September, a team of volunteers from Assurant Solutions took time out of the office to paint and clean rooms at The Donna Louise Children’s Hospice in Stoke-on-Trent.

Armed with rollers and brushes, scourers and cloths, over 50 colleagues from our Business Development team painted walls, skirting boards and dado rails in 6 rooms around the hospice. As well as this, they also assisted the domestic staff with cleaning the kitchens, bedrooms and children’s toys.

From its purpose built hospice, the charity provide a range of specialist care and support services for families in Staffordshire and South Cheshire whose children have a shortened life expectancy.

Nick Skipper, Client Manager for Assurant Solutions, said: “We wanted to highlight how much we can make a difference by working together more effectively as a team. Lending our time to such a worthwhile local cause was the perfect way to demonstrate this and everyone can come away feeling really proud with what we achieved.”

Melanie Mills, Director of Fundraising & PR at The Donna Louise Children’s Hospice, added: “We have never had so many volunteers offering their services at the Hospice in one day and we are really grateful to Assurant Solutions for taking the time out to provide us with this support. Their contributions have made a real difference.”

As well as lending their man-power, a collection held amongst the team of Assurant Solutions volunteers managed to raise £350 for the charity.
